Requirements for Joining
Applicants must be of the age of 18 years or more, male or female. Membership may be established in either of two ways, lineally or collaterally:
► Lineal descendants will be those individuals who directly descend from any Signer of one or more of the four founding documents that established the United States as a sovereign nation.
► Collateral kinship is defined as including aunt/uncle/cousin kinship to any degree from a Common Ancestor (a grandparent behind you and behind the Signer) who was living in or after the year 1550. This means we allow for the possibility that your Common Ancestor may not have immigrated to America, and conceivably even could have been born as early as the late 1400s, and still enable you to qualify for membership.
Our Application is designed as a downloadable PDF for your convenience, and it comes with comprehensive Instructions for its completion. Those individuals who are already members of other societies with similar purposes should find it relatively straightforward to complete. However, if any uncertainties arise during the process, the Instructions include contact information for our Genealogist. Our Genealogist is available to offer the guidance and support necessary to facilitate a smooth and successful membership application process for you.
